Also: introduce me to an educator, please?
For years, I’ve heard from educators that they need big concepts and big adventures without the uphill reading slog. Cousins in the Time of Magic is just that–illustrated, action-packed, and full of the history that kids need to know, all under 200 pages. It includes detailed back matter for teachers and librarians, and will be published in English and Spanish.
I’ll be sharing more about the characters and some sneak peeks of the interior illustrations in the coming weeks—just wait until you see what illustrator Poly Bernatene has done! In the meantime, could you help me by introducing me to an educator friend? See below for details…
GIVEAWAY: Introduce me to an educator, please?
I’d like to get this book in front of as many teachers and school librarians—the people best suited to get the book to kids—as I can. So to enter this giveaway, all you have to do is forward this email to an educator you know and copy me. If you win, they win too—I’ll be giving out the prizes (more below) in pairs.
The prizes are $20 gift cards to Books Are Magic, an independent bookstore here in New York. I’ve read at story time there, and they are one of the bookstores I’m working with for the school launch of Cousins in the Time of Magic, so I want you all to get to know them! Winners will be the 2nd, 5th, and 25th people to introduce me to an educator (as well as the educator you introduced me to—you will both get a gift card). For those of you keeping track, the book comes out on 2/25/25, so 2s and 5s are the lucky numbers.
The Short Version:
Forward this email to an educator you know and copy me (emma.otheguy@gmail.com). Be sure to mention where they teach, and let them know I have a new book coming out.
If you are the 2nd, 5th, or 25th person to enter, you and the educator to whom you introduced me will each get a $20 gift card to Books Are Magic. You can shop online and they will ship anywhere in the country.
